Depression is a pathological change in emotional life, a loss of balance accompanied by sadness and suffering. It is the most common mental illness in Hungary. The feeling of aimlessness, excruciating fatigue, and emptiness worsens the quality of life, reduces performance, and destroys human relationships. Depression is more than a temporary bad mood. Depression is a "prison of the soul", a "I'm under myself" feeling.

According to a WHO survey in 2001, its occurrence is twice as common in women than in men. The reason for this is the disproportionately rich emotional world of the female sex. Innumerable reasons can lead to the disease, such as congenital factors, long-term illnesses, mental trauma or faulty lifestyle. In general, people who have low self-esteem and a pessimistic view of the world are prone to depression. Looking at the root causes, we are talking about several types of depression.

The seasonal depression

An old observation from Scandinavian countries is that the months of darkness associated with long winters lead to depression. That's why they planned their vacation to the Mediterranean coast in a life-like way, from where they returned to their home country refreshed, filled with energy and a sense of life. Today we know that the amount of a compound (melatonin) produced in one area of the brain under the influence of light remains low, so light prevents the development of depression. Of course, this is also found in Hungary connection, there are a large number of people in the autumn and winter months who complain of sleep disorders, joylessness, perpetual compulsion to gnaw, obesity, irritability, indecision, inactivity, anxiety, loneliness, and increased difficulty in doing their usual daily work. This can be accompanied by a bad mood and the appearance of various physical complaints - with self-monitoring and increased awareness of illness. Many people go to the doctor and have themselves examined, but the doctor cannot find a physical illness behind the wide range of complaints. Heart arrhythmias, stomach cramps, limb pains, joint pains, and headaches can all be traced back to a depressed mood and a bad feeling of well-being.

So if possible, spend as much time as possible outdoors, jogging and cycling. Let's plan active activities outside, do sports, realize our ideas, go for a massage and relax.
