Surprising tips for coming up with something unique at your party during the megaweekend starting with St. Stephen's Day - tricky ideas, take a look at them and say goodbye to the summer in a worthy way

You can see the fireworks from our terrace, my friend can only hear them. But we both feverishly organize the party, or as he says, the party. Another friend is having a party all weekend, as she says, when the summer is over, she will say goodbye with dignity. This is how the brainstorming starts, what you need for a regular party - even if the guest list is complete…

Don't be dead tired

In the room, in the garden, on the terrace, it doesn't matter, as long as the atmosphere is good. Aug. 20.and the giant summer farewell weekend is an excellent opportunity to gather a nice group of friends for one of the evenings. What do you have to offer? Creative, light and dishes that you won't get tired of making.

Finger foods are coming in

According to Péter Mózes, the chef of the Danubius Hotels Astoria hotel, avoid pre-ordered large-scale sandwiches with sourdough bread, aspic, and give something more interesting "between my nails". As you can see, everyone likes finger foods taken over from the Anglo-Saxon area, i.e. finger-sized delicacies that can be eaten between the fingers. These can be minions with tartare, cherry tomatoes with goat cheese, donuts with salmon cream (the small representative donuts can be bought ready-made, you just have to cut them in half, fill them and put them in the fridge), pasta baskets with chicken meat and eggs with vegetables. Oh, and don't forget the veggies and their veggie cake!

Italian sandwiches, such as tramezzini, are now in fashion, which you can put on the table filled with creams, vegetables, and meat, in a layered form or cut into triangles.

Fantasy name and variation

Be sure to choose exciting breads, such as Russian black or grainy pastries. You can also give fanciful names - as the chef recommends - for example, a cheese variation can be named Master Mekk, and a fish can be named Little Mermaid. Among the drinks, avoid regular carbonated soft drinks! Lemonade is back in vogue - deservedly so, as it's also a showy, hearty thirst quencher.

Blueberries with a straw

Put ice cubes, lime and lemon slices in pretty glass jugs, pour lemon juice and sprinkle - not too much - granulated sugar. Homemade elderberry syrup is at least as delicious: it will be a great success with ice cubes and mint leaves. The fashionable cooler of trendy restaurants is the strawberry, blueberry or blackberry cooler: ice cubes, soda water, fresh or frozen fruit pulp, a few drops of fresh lemon juice, lemongrass for decoration, a few bunches of currants, and the indispensable straw. According to Péter Mózes, you should avoid concentrated alcoholic drinks - especially in the heat: light white wine, cool rosé and, as a sure tip, a sparkling ducal for such a party. Among the cocktails, forget the overly sweet variations, but the Mojito always works.

And if it were retro?

Among the types of parties, retro parties are very popular these days. Moreover, these can be solved relatively cheaply, even on a picnic basis. Someone else brings the drink - let it include raspberry syrup! –, someone else composes the music, the family prepares the savory dishes, and the other members of the company take care of the sweets and desserts. Retro parties also branch out in two directions: cheap, Hungarian, nostalgic and fun American parties, reminiscent of the fifties.

Record player and milkman

For the Hungarian variety, bread with liver cream with kovi ubi, rolls with leek meat, net with homemade flamed cheese, sour cream, lecsó for a warm meal, boiled corn, tejbegriz for dessert, blackcurrant with raspberry syrup, whipped cream, or Túró Rudi - in all quantities - are essential. A waxed tablecloth is overkill, though it depends on the pattern. Choose a napkin with a pattern or a completely plain color. Tell the dance-obsessed to bring cassettes and a tape recorder, even more real with a slightly crackling record player.

Sophisticated napkins

Retro American party supplies include balloons, bubble blowers, catchy hits from the fifties and sixties, cotton candy (ready-made from Polish cans), popcorn, hamburgers and hot dogs, maple syrup waffles, colas, soft, sweet marshmellow candies (available!), ready-to-buy brownies and, of course, ice cream. (It's not important that it's Haagen Dazs, but the latter is a tip.) Napkins decorated with images of deceased American movie stars may seem too sophisticated - although they are sometimes available - polka-dot patterns are more affordable.

Sushi and sake

A more expensive but guaranteed successful solution for a more elegant company is a party that mixes the cuisines of various nations - if you like, fusion - or just a party based on the cuisine of one nation at a time. This requires an experienced housewife and good organization. Preference is given to those who have spent a few years abroad, so they have authentic experience. Sushi is very trendy, especially among young managers of multinational companies, banks and other businesses. It is not difficult to learn the basic dishes, it is definitely worth devoting an evening and an instructional tape to it. If you don't have time for that, go to a Japanese restaurant and ask how much they can deliver a dinner for X people. Then calculate! Japanese background music is optional (but try to get it anyway), but sake can be a fun splash.

Salsa with salsa

In this genre, you can get away cheaper if you choose Mexico. Don't be afraid that you have to create a chocolate-chili chicken, it's enough to start a conversation with the chef of a Mexican restaurant or read a cookbook about it. To reassure you: ready-made tortillas, corn in many forms, avocado creams, tequilas, various salsas (as well as sauces, dips and as music, of course). Mariachi music can be left behind, but with him it's the real thing!
