If immigration continues at a rate similar to today, for example in Paris, in a few years the subway stops will also have to be written in Arabic - says the Hungarian cameraman who has lived there for twenty years; question, is this a problem or on the contrary

No problem - says Kati, who attended the Paris Film Academy, IDHEC, in the early eighties, where she graduated as a film director and cinematographer. He says Paris is becoming more and more colorful. More and more people are immigrating from former French colonies. In the morning, there are almost more people of color traveling on the metro than white people. He loves this diverse world, but he knows that the solution would be if those fleeing extreme poverty from North and West Africa could be supported in their birthplace.

Because there is less and less space and work in Paris. Kati lives in a real, old Parisian apartment. The neighborhood where they live has always had a lot of immigrants. For example, in the class where his beautiful, white-skinned, long-blonde-haired daughter, Martha, attends, among the twenty-three children, there are hardly two of the same nationality. Their parents or grandparents immigrated from thirteen different countries, mainly former French colonies.

When I asked Martha if there was a difference between the children at school, the little girl didn't even understand the question. Of course. In the family of his brown-skinned classmates, they usually eat at a low table, and Karimatou, his girlfriend from Mali, eats the rice with her hands. Her favorite food is "poulet yassa" and she likes ginger and hibiscus juice. His mother speaks to him in Bambara.

But otherwise? The children dress alike, like the same toys, and learn the Marseillaise at school.

I love the variety of colors, food, clothes, says Kati. - On the floor next to us, a Sri Lankan family lives, the Senegalese boy plays with the Lebanese girl in the yard. Obviously, there are also different customs in families.

Africans are louder, they like to talk outdoors, on the street, Asians are more withdrawn and quiet. When I walk down the street, I see women dressed in colorful African costumes speaking to their children in their mother tongue. But the kids are already answering in French, wearing jeans and playing Nintendo.

My daughter's best friend's parents are from Mali. When I was a child, I didn't even know that such a poor, forgotten country existed in the lap of Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal and Mauritania. I think a Hungarian student could be thoroughly embarrassed by asking him to show these countries on the map. Or tell me their capital city. And Martha studies with them. I think this is very good. It is very important to experience the world in its diversity. In Mali, 81% of people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Every second person only has access to clean drinking water. The expected age is 48 years. The children who grow up in Paris will have a chance for a more humane life, and maybe some of them will go back to their parents' homeland and try to help.

But the fact that they are with us to bring Africa to Paris is also good for us whites. Anyone who cannot understand this cannot see beyond their nose.
