According to the observation of the Huffington Post, at the recently held fashion weeks, there were a striking number of models who were certainly somewhat older than the majority of their female colleagues who are usually employed, that is, unlike the majority, they have been considered adults for quite some time.

Francisco Costa, the artistic director of Calvin Klein, for example, asked the gray-haired Kristen McMenamy, born in 1966, to present the collection at the New York Fashion Week alongside Stella Tennant and Kirsty Hume, who are also not so young. one piece of the company's fall/winter collection on the catwalk.

“I wanted something different. I wanted models who better represent my customers, the ones for whom I design my clothes. Well, they're long past their 16th birthday, Costa said. Marc Jacobs also did not stick to teenage models at a Louis Vuitton show, where, among others, 47-year-old Elle Macpherson and Bar Refaeli, Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, who turned 18 years ago, walked the catwalk. In addition to Ambrosio, Miuccia Prada asked Isabeli Fontana, Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr, who are also in their twenties, for a similar task.

According to the Huffington Post, manufacturers are able to appeal to their customers much better with older models, and this trend may also help women to accept themselves much better, as it is not the case with young and excessively thin girls, but they have to compare themselves with slightly older and shapelier models. Although a woman in her thirties is a rarity on the catwalks, a model who worked in this profession even in the nineties is not a rare phenomenon in magazines. At the same time, it should not be forgotten that while the world of catwalks is mainly about fantasies and desires, the images appearing in fashion magazines aim to stimulate sales.

While the weight of models was already debated by professionals and laymen in the nineties, age only came into the picture much later, even though the two things are, according to many, related. 25-year-old Doutzen Kroes and 21-year-old Coco Rocha recently claimed that they didn't really get runway jobs, partly because of their more shapely figure and partly because of their age. "Apart from the Victoria's Secret shows, I haven't had a runway job in seven or eight years," said Alessandra Ambrosio, who experienced similar things, and thus was thoroughly surprised that the situation has now turned around. "For a long time, designers only used girls who weren't very sexy, who weren't really shapely," she added. Arguing in favor of the eighteen-year-old models who have been in office for a long time or not so long ago, he also noted that the many years of experience can only benefit everyone.

This season, a lot of 13-14-year-old girls were reportedly told to come back with a slightly older head, just as the excessively thin models were also asked to take care of their he alth a bit, and if they get better, they are welcomed with open arms them, says Nian Fish, artistic director of a company that organizes fashion shows. According to the head of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Steven Kolb, models under the age of 16 should not be employed, and girls under the age of 18 should make sure that they eat regularly and get enough rest, for example, they don't have to work after midnight.
