On Mother's Day, we played the piano to ourselves, our mother, our grandmother, and wondered why we still don't have Father's Day institutionally. However, there is one group that cannot be forgotten - those who really, really wanted to, but couldn't become mothers. I am now handing them an imaginary bouquet with a few stories - because, most of the time, it really didn't depend on them.

There are a lot of people around me, old ladies, middle-aged women, people my age. Looking through the elders, one side of my family tree is full of them. One of them, let's call her Mária, was a beautiful girl, she got married soon, her husband was the same age as her, and they lived in a truly model marriage. Only the baby didn't show up. Mária's husband didn't hesitate to go to the doctor - at that time it was very rare - the doctor even hesitated, then asked, and his lovely wife? But Mária thought that if the Most High wants to give her a child, then He will. Not given. Mária and her husband felt their paternal feelings mostly on a relative who became a half-orphan at an early age, just as Mária's brother and his wife, Ilona, only had the children of younger sisters.

Ilona found her husband at a young age, a fifty-six-year-old emigrant, already abroad. Unlike Mária, the poor man ran from basement to attic to see if there was a medical solution - since it was clearly not clear what the obstacle was. When they were told that the toolbox was exhausted, they were very sad - at that time they visited Hungary for the first time after 1956. Ilona's sister-in-law suddenly couldn't breathe when they came up with the idea of giving them little Eszter, who was two or three years old at the time. "You're young, it's still possible for you," they told Eszter's mother, "but it's not possible for us."Believe me, there wouldn't be a bad row with us." Of course, things don't work that way, Eszter stayed in Hungary, distant relatives assisted her all the way, as the sweet little girl turned into a spiky teenager, a young woman in search of herself, and then a full-fledged family mother. Did they wonder afterwards what would happen if he went with them then? However, not only Eszter, but all the children of all the siblings were invited to the distant country. If their own has not been born.

Marianna hoped until she was almost fifty years old. All told, he spent the price of a single family home on treatments, miracle cures and miracle cures. Perfectly ineffective. The whole family pushed her through her ordeal, but when it was suggested to her to adopt - well, not that anymore. The grief remained, the beautiful professional career lived as compensation, the love of the related children.

Gabriella became a teacher, instead of one child she became the "children" of hundreds. Now past retirement age, a boarding school teacher - single (never married) in a way that is never alone. His students from 20 years ago regularly correspond and call him, perhaps because he didn't become his own because then he wouldn't have seen the forest so clearly from the trees. That huge one.

And the younger ones - Fruzsina was also created by God to be a mother, we thought even in our twenties. His round body also included a round soul, he pestered small children even back then, when we still considered them annoying little creatures and would have been afraid of responsibility. Fruzsina and her partner tried every possible technique and therapy - when the flask didn't work either, Fruzsina gave up. It didn't happen, it didn't happen. They haven't thought about adoption yet either, who knows what the future will bring. In theory, she still has a few years to get pregnant.

Like Ágnes, the hero of my last story, the ray of hope. The one who never defended himself in his life, but was avoided by the freshman until he was thirty-nine years old. She also left a long and relatively balanced marriage after the age of thirty because, as she realized, her husband didn't really want children. At the examinations, Ágnes was told not to get her hopes up, and she took action - she started an adoption procedure, and she also deliberately thought of a disadvantaged, somewhat injured child. When she started making friends with a little boy, love didn't escape her. She thought, why not, what kind of risk would I be taking when she got into bed with the much younger man. Not long after that, she was horrified and happy to see: she was pregnant, she, the "infertile". He knew immediately that this child had to stay, no matter what the father said. To his surprise, he was willing to marry Ágnes almost immediately - on one hard condition. He didn't even want to hear about the boy to be adopted, only about his own son. After a few sleepy nights, Ágnes accepted the condition - fate sometimes forces us into strange detours. But in the end, after resigning and giving up, she still became a mother. And if she doesn't give birth to one, she probably would still have a smeared hand holding flowers on Mother's Day.

Let's not forget about them today.
