“Tell me something!” Sometimes the request comes unprepared, but something needs to be figured out urgently. The curious, black doe-eyes glisten in anticipation, the little fingers intertwine with excitement. During Advent, this request is rarer. In the morning, the seedling's journey from the crib immediately leads to a red-painted wooden train. Because every night an angel "chirps" various small surprises into the drawers of the wagons.

I discovered the Little Christmas Train while browsing the Internet and immediately fell in love with it. Since little girls for some reason never get a train as a gift, a long-forgotten childhood wish came to the surface. The good-looking Advent car can be purchased without being noticed, since I have a son. My little one loves 'sihuhu', he will surely enjoy it. On the top of the train there is a pine tree, a ball and a snowman. It rolls on small wooden wheels, and is a machinist in its fancy locomotive. In addition, there are numbered drawers on the side of the train, twenty-four to be exact. Like an angel, I will hide here in the evenings the … what? Dice, a piece of bonbon, button (We have a button craze. Buttons, depending on what kind of clothes they are for, even talk!), sticker, small car. Little things.

Waiting is basically a trying task. The children don't even understand exactly what it's for, and if I suggest that we only eat one of the two chocolates in the Santa package today and put the other away, because it will come in handy tomorrow, my suggestion is met with confused looks. We adults also struggle with the problem of restraint and waiting, which is perhaps why the few weeks before Christmas are so lovely. The most beautiful holiday of the family reminds us of something every day. We think about the gifts, our loved ones, the delicacies that will be on the table. Advent is not only a good time to decorate our home, but also our heart. And also to tell stories to the little ones. About faith, hope, love, joy. According to each person's age. About the fact that you only have to open so many drawers, and Jesus will be born, who is just as tiny a baby as you were. I have to list the days over and over to my three and a half year old child and show him the last drawer, the 24th.

On the way to kindergarten, our path takes us past the church. The barn is already standing, with the manger in it. Every morning my little son runs ahead to see if baby Jesus has been born yet. He confirms that not yet, but Mária and József are already there. I know he'll run ahead on the way home too, just in case. This is how you learn about waiting. In the meantime, he tells me the story of Mária and József, I will tell you why they live in the same barn. Why is there straw and not a quilt in the manger, when the baby Jesus will lie there. In the evening, after the story, I sing a new song. The angel from heaven… - One more time! he asks, three or four times in a row. The next day he stops me again, sometimes word by word, sometimes line by line. "What is it from heaven?" - What are shepherds? - What is Bethlehem? He asks me about it from hill to hill, and in a few days he'll be humming it with me.

In the meantime, of course, don't forget about the Advent train. The first thing in the morning is still to discover what the little drawer hides. Of course, he would open the rest if we are already here, why wait until tomorrow. But the sly little angel knows the greedy little guy, so every day he hides the surprise in just one drawer. So the nimble little hand that already reaches for the next one is in vain. You have to wait until tomorrow. The holiday is coming. In the evening we sing another Christmas song, in the morning we run to the manger, but of course only after discovering what the little angel chirped in the night in the drawer that is getting closer to the 24th. This is how we look forward to Christmas.
