Sports for boys and girls

Swimming

One of the most popular sports. When choosing swimming courses, there are usually two options to choose from: one or two weekly courses. One-time passes cost 5-7 thousand forints, two-time passes cost 11-13 thousand forints. Experts recommend starting swimming from the age of 3-4.

Tennis

In 2007, the ITF launched the Play and Stay campaign to promote tennis among beginners and adults. The essence of the program is that by using slower balls and smaller courts, playing skills develop faster and thus tennis becomes easier and more enjoyable for beginners. This sport is recommended from the age of 5, the monthly membership fee is approx. HUF 5 thousand.

Athletics

Athletics includes natural forms of movement, walking, running, jumping and throwing. Regular practice of these movements contributes to the preservation of he alth, perfects a person's basic movement skills, develops his physical abilities, and promotes the correct development of intellectual, moral and volitional qualities, and is the basis of school physical education. It is recommended to start the sport from the age of 6, the membership fee ranges from HUF 2-5 thousand. The price of the necessary clothing is between HUF 5-30 thousand.

Fencing

Fencing has been one of Hungary's most successful sports for decades, and is enjoyed by both boys and girls. Although this is not clear at first, it is a distinctly intellectual sport when played at a higher level, it is no coincidence that there are many university graduates among the successful fencers. You don't really need any equipment to get started, a pair of training pants, a T-shirt, and sneakers are just right. The associations provide fencing clothes, helmets and weapons for beginners. If someone takes it seriously, they must eventually acquire fencing shoes, fencing clothes, and one or two of their own weapons and helmets. Their price varies depending on the manufacturer. The monthly association fee is HUF 6-12 thousand.

Riding

Riding is not a cheap sport. Calculated once a week, per month approx. It represents an expenditure of HUF 10,000. The equipment can be bought sparingly, choosing from the cheaper products in sports equipment stores, we have to spend HUF 4,000.

Sailing

This sport can be practiced from the age of 7, even competitively. It is not only a sporting opportunity, but also a strong social experience for the participants. It combines the disciplinary power of a technical sport with the proximity of nature, so it can convey many values that we consider important today. The course for children is not cheap, the price for association membership is approx. HUF 18,000, HUF 28,000 without membership. This amount means 10 occasions in both cases. The association provides rescue equipment and boats. It is important to know how to swim.

Ski and snowboard

In Budapest, you can learn to ski on plastic slopes in surprisingly many locations. This sport can be started by any age group, the courses start from the age of 3 and a half. The course is usually divided into two or three months. The fee for one shift is roughly 30-35 thousand forints for two hours a week, 20-22 thousand forints for one hour a week.

Equipment does not have to be bought outright, it is possible to rent it (5-600 forints per occasion), and ski schools regularly organize fairs where you can buy used equipment at a friendly price (or exchange the outgrown one).

Skates

In winter, more and more kindergartens and schools organize regular skating lessons for children, and many people choose this sport regardless of the institutions. For complete beginners, we can usually rent skates for a few hundred forints, and the other equipment (non-soaking pants, thick gloves, hat, scarf) is part of the winter wardrobe anyway. It costs HUF 1,000-1,500 for training on occasion, and if you have to invest in a pair of skates, you can keep the prices down by purchasing a used one.

Rowing sports

Rowing sports are individual and team sports and are available nationwide. That is why it is difficult to determine exactly how much this sport costs, since the price of membership depends on the associations. The list of associations can be found on the https://www.kajakkenusport.hu/ page, broken down by area.

Handball

One of the most popular sports in our country is easily accessible, does not require special equipment (we can talk about 3-10 thousand HUF expenses), and is recommended by professionals from the age of 7. The membership fee is completely variable, approx. It ranges between HUF 5-10 thousand.

Volleyball

Technically, it is considered one of the most difficult ball sports, since the goal of the game is to keep the ball in the air. In other words, playing volleyball, at least at the professional level, requires extraordinary technical and positioning skills. Both boys and girls can play the sport, from primary school age. The amount of membership fees varies, thanks to its prevalence.

Boys Sports

Football

The most well-known and divisive sport in the country can be played by both boys and girls, but of course it is significantly more common among boys. Depending on the location and association, the price of the membership fee can vary between HUF 2 and 10 thousand. At the beginning, you don't need to spend a large amount on clothing, but later on you have to expect to buy jerseys, shoes, sports leggings, and warmers, which can cost up to HUF 25,000, and we haven't bought branded ones yet.

Hockey

Although it seems like one of the roughest sports, hockey coaches say that thanks to the professional equipment, the fewest injuries occur during their matches. The game, which is based on speed, good reflexes, creativity and thinking, is one of the most spectacular, and in recent years, our country has been considered one of the best at the international level. The sport can be played by both boys and girls, even from the age of 5. You can play ice hockey in more and more places, both in the capital and in the countryside. The membership fee therefore varies, ranging from HUF 2,500 to HUF 10,000. Beginners receive temporary equipment, it is also possible to rent it. Those who want their own can buy the devices for as little as HUF 15,000.

Water polo

Although the era of the Golden Team and the work of Dénes Kemény can be considered closed, water polo will remain one of the most successful and popular of Hungarian sports for a long time. It is worth starting this sport between the ages of 6 and 10, the monthly membership fee is approx. HUF 13,000 per month. Playing water polo does not require a large investment, you only need swimming trunks, a towel, glasses and slippers, the rest is provided by the associations.

Martial sports

Karate, Taek-wan-do, Judo, Aikido, and we could list the combat sports. There are associations that have a huge stock of clothes and dress the beginners from their own stock, but we heard elsewhere that for reasons of hygiene they prefer that everyone use their own clothes, these can be purchased in sports stores for around HUF 4,000.

Girls Sports

Ballet

Many little girls want to learn ballet, it is no coincidence that many kindergartens and schools themselves organize ballet classes for those interested. The sport helps to develop good posture and body awareness, and when practiced as a hobby, in principle, it does not require any special investment, a tracksuit and training shoes can cost up to HUF 3-4 thousand. The monthly membership fee is usually HUF 5-10 thousand.

Folk dance

Folk dance is a form of movement that is popular mainly among younger, kindergarten or elementary school children, which, like ballet, often appears in kindergartens and schools. The necessary equipment varies depending on how seriously the child is playing, in the kindergarten you don't need anything in the world, but the older ones who are already going to performances can pay more for traditional clothes with many skirts, fancy skirts, knock-off shoes, boots, these can even be more ten thousand forints can be taken from the family coffers. Synchronized Swimming

This sport is clearly recommended for girls. Those who want to do water ballet competitively should start between the ages of 6 and 14. In addition to the most common two-person and eight-person formations, you can also start individually, although in this case you are at most in sync with yourself. Synchronized swimming requires a swimming suit, swimming cap and nose clip. By definition, these devices cannot be borrowed, the goods range between HUF 3 and 10 thousand. However, the membership fee is higher, HUF 15-18 thousand.

Competitive dance, acrobatic rock and roll

This category includes competitive dances, acrobatic rock and roll. The dances are performed in pairs and formations, both boys and girls. The great advantage of dances is that they can be started at any age. The membership fee varies, ranging from HUF 5-10 thousand.

In the beginning, there is no need for equipment, but later on the clothes can be a significant item, the more decorated clothes of a child competing in a higher category can even reach HUF 150,000, but this is really the level of the national leader.

Figure skating, Ice dance

Thanks to the fact that there are ice rinks in more and more places, figure skating and ice dance education are gaining more and more space. Both boys and girls can play this sport, from the age of four. The fees for the courses are completely variable, one session approx. It costs HUF 1,500.
