Just like last year, this year we visited the Budapest stop of the Nivea Fitness Tour. The location has changed, but the concept has remained, even now you could try many different classes. Looking at the program, we caught our eye on Groove, as dance forms of movement are very popular right now. Before the class, we asked Groove instructor Corinne Sasso to tell us a little about the method.

What exactly is Groove?

This is the easiest dance class there is. The movement was started by Misty Tripoli. As a fitness instructor, he suddenly realized that it is not good that people have to follow him, since everyone moves differently, our bodies and abilities are different. It's much easier to get people to move if they don't have to copy the watch transmitter, if they have to pay attention to themselves instead of someone else.

How to imagine a watch?

Participants do not have to follow the instructor facing the crowd, we dance together. We make full use of the space available to us, we walk back and forth in the room. There are no shapes, we don't teach dance, everyone can move independently. We show a few basic movements for each song, but you don't have to copy them, because my body is different from yours, everyone moves differently. Of course, people need to know what they have to do, they need the framework, but after the introduction, they do every move as they like, it's about simple basic steps, and you don't have to pay attention to anything but yourself.

What music styles or dance genres can we meet in a class?

There is swing, trance, country, twist, pop, rock and much more. We want people to be able to taste a little bit of each of them, to feel the music, whatever it is, with just a few really simple moves.

How and when did you encounter this form of movement?

Four years ago when I was in Mexico, I went to one of Misty Tripoli's classes she taught on the beach. It was impressive. After obtaining the appropriate qualification, I became a teacher at home in Switzerland and became more and more involved in the movement. And now I actually run the whole company.

Who do you recommend Groove to?

For everyone, because anyone who can walk and dance can't be spoiled. Since we don't study choreography, we don't have to constantly monitor the instructor, so it's not a problem if someone misses 10 classes.

What are the other advantages of this type of watch?

You can completely forget about dancing and it moves the whole body. You sweat and have fun at the same time. Of course, there are types of training that develop the muscles much more seriously, but we try to organize the classes in such a way that they include a little cardio, strengthening and functional training.

Experiences

For those who go to exercise regularly, it may seem unusual that you don't have to follow the movements of the presenters exactly, and the class explains in detail how different this method is. Of course, it is not so easy to switch, and even though there is plenty of room to move around, the crowd prefers to stay close to the stage, but everyone quickly realizes that there is no need to follow the instructor's methods. Instead of choreography, there is a dance of joy, and in a few minutes, even those standing on the sidelines join in, even those who have not changed their clothes for the class. The songs were chosen so that they are well known, and anyone can sing along to the dance.
