Based on the revolutionary idea of Tamás Zsidró, the I. Kékharisnya Regatta will be organized on July 11 in Balatonföldvár. The origin of the competition for women was told by Tamás Zsidró himself. "While sailing on Lake Balaton last summer, I noticed that women are more active on eight out of ten boats. On a sailboat, if the crew is two people, it is usually a couple. And the division of roles worked in such a way that the man stood behind the wheel and conducted, and the woman tugged and pulled the ropes, pulled the sails and winches," the star hairdresser gives an idea of her experiences in the press release sent out.

From this observation came the conclusion that women are able to perform captaincy duties if they are skillful with their paws. The competition is organized for those who sail in their free time, but have not yet competed. According to the rulebook, there can be one man on each boat, but this results in a demerit point. At the goal, the so-called Beauty Island awaits the competitors, there will be a hairdresser, nail technician (you often need it when sailing, don't you?) and a cocktail mixer, who will brighten up the afternoon with cider speci alties. Ábel Brencsán, the competitive sports manager of the Hungarian Sailing Association, said that the association supports the event and that Zsidró's idea coincides with their aspirations. In the women's boat class, eight Hungarian ladies have participated in the Olympics so far, and three are still fighting for the quota that means reaching the Rio Olympics, including Mária Érdi, who at the age of 17 can boast of several world and European championship titles.

The good news is that part of the proceeds of the competition will go to charity, the Mellrákinfo Association will be supported by the Kékharisnya Regatta. Bori Halom, the founder of the association, has been a member of the sailing community for more than 30 years and a lover of Lake Balaton. It is therefore no question that you would like to connect this hobby with taking on social responsibility. "It's been two years since we've been present at the Blue Ribbon competition, and I hardly dared to dream that one day we could be there at a sailing competition exclusively for women," says the founder of the Mellrákinfó Egyesület, who writes a blog about the disease.
