Experts found dangerous toy strollers during product tests conducted in the accredited Mechanical and Electrical Laboratory of the National Consumer Protection Authority. Among the objectionable toys are some that can even cause serious injury. During the random check, the experts examined seven types of products, five of which had some kind of problem - which means that the complaint rate was 71.4%, they wrote on their website. All of the tested products were manufactured in the Far East.

The structural design of the toy strollers is determined by a standard, one of the goals of the regulations is, for example, to prevent the stroller from accidentally collapsing and thus causing injury. Manufacturers use two structural solutions for toy strollers, in one case the toy stroller folds over the child's head. And in the case of such toys, if the child climbs into it or puts his younger sibling in the toy stroller and it collapses, the handle can hit the child on the head or throat, which can also cause serious injury.

That is why it is required for such strollers to have two locking mechanisms that work independently of each other, as this prevents the stroller from accidentally collapsing. It is important to note that these toys are not designed for children to sit in, but according to the relevant standard they must also withstand this load. Based on Dívány's non-representative survey, the strollers not manufactured in the Far East (meaning: unrealistically expensive) tend to handle real (small) children as well.

The accredited Mechanical and Electrical Laboratory of the National Consumer Protection Authority found that 5 of the 7 types of products examined (71.4%) had inadequate structural design. Among the complained-about products are those that cause minor injuries, but experts also found products that could cause a more serious accident.

In terms of folding, 4 strollers can cause accidents, while 3 strollers can cause accidents due to elements that move relative to each other. In milder cases, the complained-of products can pinch children's fingers, but in worse cases, they can even hit children on the head or throat while playing. If the product is not designed properly, sharp edges and pointed ends can also cause injury, which is also worth paying attention to when someone buys such a toy. Experts did not find such an error in the tested games.

Since the accredited laboratory of the National Consumer Protection Authority found so many unsuitable strollers during the tests, these products will also be checked in the coming years.
